The following Terms and Conditions outline the policies and expectations associated with our notary services. By engaging our services, you agree to comply with and be bound by the terms set forth below.
1. Compliance with Maryland Law
All notarial acts are performed in strict compliance with the Maryland Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA) and applicable state regulations. Services may be refused if any legal requirement is not met.
2. No Legal Advice
VY Signing Services is not a law firm. The notary is not an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland and is prohibited from drafting legal documents, providing legal advice, or advising on legal matters, including immigration. Fees are not charged for legal services.
3. Identification Requirements
All signers must present valid, current, government-issued photo identification acceptable under Maryland law at the time of notarization. Failure to provide proper identification will result in refusal of service.
4. Personal Appearance and Willingness
All signers must personally appear before the notary, either in person or via approved Remote Online Notarization (RON). The signer must appear willing, aware, and competent, and must understand the document being notarized.
5. Document Readiness
Documents must be complete prior to notarization. The notary will not notarize documents that contain blank spaces or are otherwise incomplete, except as permitted by Maryland law. The notary does not review documents for accuracy or legality.
6. Right to Refuse Service
VY Signing Services reserves the right to refuse service if fraud, coercion, lack of capacity, improper identification, or noncompliance with Maryland law is suspected.
7. Remote Online Notarization (RON)
Remote Online Notarization is offered in compliance with Maryland law. Not all documents qualify for RON. Additional identity verification requirements and third-party platform fees may apply and will be disclosed prior to service.
8. Service Area and Travel
VY Signing Services proudly serves Prince George’s County, Maryland and surrounding areas. Clients located outside the preferred service area may be accommodated via Remote Online Notarization or by meeting at a mutually agreed-upon location, subject to availability and additional travel fees.
9. Fees and Payment
All fees are disclosed prior to service and are due at the time of the appointment unless otherwise agreed.
Fee Structure (subject to change):
Payment methods accepted will be communicated at booking.
10. Cancellations and No-Shows
Cancellations or rescheduling requests should be made as soon as possible. Missed appointments or last-minute cancellations for mobile services will result in a cancellation or no-show fee.
11. Waiting Time
Appointments include a limited waiting period. Extended delays may incur additional fees or require rescheduling.
12. Witnesses
If witnesses are required, the client is responsible for providing qualified witnesses. Maryland notaries are not authorized to provide witnesses for signers.
13. No Guarantee of Acceptance
VY Signing Services does not guarantee that a notarized document will be accepted by any receiving agency, court, or institution.
14. Privacy and Recordkeeping
Client information is handled with professionalism and confidentiality. Notary records, including journals and RON recordings, are maintained as required by Maryland law.
